After defending the WBO title, Josh has a chance to face Teofimo
Former Undisputed Welterweight Champion Josh Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs) confident that he can beat the former undisputed lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez (18-1, 13 KOs) if the fight between them takes place.
“He is a very good, very experienced fighter, but I believe that on my night I will blow him to pieces. He is a bit of a clown. He seems to be looking past his opponents all the time. He made the same mistake twice and nearly paid for it again.”
“His comments made beforehand… He seems to have the same recurring problem, he thinks he’s a gift from God, and then he crashes back down to Earth.”
“I still believe that I will beat him. Let’s not forget that he dealt with Lomachenko very well, but he beat a small, injured lightweight who could really fight a featherweight. You have to give credit for that fight, but Lopez is not the same with blown featherweights.”
Lopez defeated Martin to win the WBO international light welterweight title. The fight also had the status of a WBC eliminator. After the fight, Lopez named Josh Taylor among potential rivals.
Taylor last fought Jack Catterall in February. The boxers have agreed on a rematch, which is scheduled for 2023, and will be held as a defense of the WBO belt.
