The appearance in Canada of same-sex couples in figure skating is senseless and a violation of the traditions of the sport, says the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Svishchev .
Earlier, the Canadian Figure Skating Federation gave permission to participate in their competitions for same-sex couples. The organization introduced the concepts of “Skater A”, “Skater B”, “lifting partner”, “lifting partner”, as well as “follower” and “leader”.
