President of the Sports and Educational Center “Sambo-70” Renat Laishev believes that Ukraine’s demands for sanctions against Russian athletes are caused by a sense of envy.
Earlier it became known that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine asked the Security Council to impose sanctions on a number of Russian athletes, including Kamila Valieva, Arina and Dina Averina, Adelina Sotnikova and Evgenia Tarasova, Alexander Galliamov , Nikita Katsalapov, Mark Kondratyuk, Roman Kostomarov, Vladimir Morozov, Evgeni Plushenko, Alina Kabaeva, Dmitry Tarasov, Vyacheslav Fetisov and many more.
– Everything is clear and understandable. Now, purely from a political point of view, they will put us everywhere in a helpless rage that they do not have their own Kamila Valieva and there are no elite athletes at all. No one can beat us, no one is as talented as us in all sports,” Laishev told .
In February, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that sports federations prevent Russian athletes from participating in international tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine. Many federations have followed these recommendations.
