Al Ain head coach on helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine and working with Serhiy Stakhovsky
Former Dynamo coach Serhiy Rebrov, who now heads Al-Ain, spoke about his activities in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, first aid to the Ukrainian military from our players, and also about the search for vehicles for the front line in Europe.
According to Rebrov, Ukrainian players responded to his call in the first days of a full-scale war unleashed by Russia against our country.
“Probably, every citizen of Ukraine, when a full-scale war began, tried to help his country. I tried to organize it, it can be called a fund, but this is not a fund, but a one-time charitable contribution: we collected a rather impressive amount of money with the players. At that time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine really needed help, and we did what we could,” Rebrov said.
“Now I don’t have any fund, although people called and asked about it. I am constantly in contact with Sergei Stakhovsky, who travels to the front line, knows what our fighters need at the moment and we pass on as much as possible. The same pickups that the Armed Forces need in Europe are almost gone, we take them in England with a right-hand drive and remake them. This is a rather long procedure.
I did not count how many of these pickups we have already transferred – about six or seven. But we transfer not only them, but also what our fighters need. I am grateful to Serhiy Stakhovsky, who does a lot for Ukraine and helps: both by volunteering and going directly to the front line.”
It should be noted that during his last visit to Ukraine, Rebrov visited the Main Military Clinical Hospital to visit Ukrainian soldiers, and also visited the Ivan Bohun Military Lyceum, where he talked with future servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The mentor has repeatedly expressed his support for the Ukrainian people and took part in charity events. Rebrov also stated that in the UAE he continues to popularize Ukraine and tell the truth about Russian terrorism against Ukraine.
Early on the morning of February 24, Russia launched rocket attacks on Ukrainian cities, and then launched a large-scale invasion. The war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine continues for the 295th day.
