Figure skater Gritsaenko about the Russian-Chinese Games: “It is not allowed to walk, and in general all the streets are empty”

Russian figure skater Artem Gritsaenko in an interview with a correspondent, he spoke about the mood of the Russian-Chinese Games against the backdrop of the coronavirus restrictions.

Gritsaenko performs in pair skating with Elizaveta Osokina. The duo joined the Russian team to participate in the third Russian-Chinese Games, which take place from December 16 to 19 in Changchun, in the province of Jilin.

— Pandemic rules in action: We’re getting tested almost every day, wearing masks and keeping our distance. We only move around the hotel and the arena, we travel by transfer. Walking is not allowed and, in general, all the streets are empty.

There are few Russian-speaking Chinese, so you have to communicate with them either on your fingers or through an interpreter.

But the atmosphere is generally competitive, everything is well organized. Overall, I like it,” Gritsaenko told .

The games will include competitions in seven sports: in addition to figure skating, these are cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, snowboarding, speed skating (including short track), freestyle and curling.
