Kolesnikov’s world record at a distance of 50m on the back was at the end of the world championships in Melbourne

World record for swimming in short course at a distance of 50 m on the back, held by a Russian Kliment Kolesnikov was unbeaten at the World Championships, which are held in Melbourne, Australia.

ryan murphy (USA) won the distance with a score of 22.64 seconds, while the final had to be swum due to a technical error at the start. “The decision was made after discussion with all participating athletes and team representatives,” the International Swimming Federation (FINA) said in a statement.

Earlier, Kolesnikov at the Russian Championship in Kazan, held as part of the second stage of the Friendship Games, set a new world record – 22.11. Kolesnikov’s world record is pending ratification. FINA told that approval of the record will take place on a general basis.
