The meeting of representatives of the All-Russian Athletics Federation with World Athletics will take place before the end of March, the Russian side expects consultations on the restoration of the organization to be held in person, the head of ARAF, Petr Ivanov told reporters.
Earlier on Sunday, the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin announced the return of Peter Ivanov as President of the VFLA. Ivanov was elected head of the VFLA in November 2020, but in February 2021 he temporarily left the position, Irina Privalova became the acting president of the organization. Since December 17, 2022, the restrictions imposed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on the awarding of leadership positions in international sports organizations by Russian officials have been officially lifted, as confirmed by a letter from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
– It is important that the two-year period is over, and today we are ready to start working again and to deal with the problems facing our athletics, the tasks facing the Ministry of Sports. We have big plans related to the completion of the VFLA restoration activities in the world of athletics, we aim to direct all our efforts towards children’s sports, grassroots sports, sports of the highest performance. Not only to implement what we need to do, but also to continue the work we are doing today.

– I continued to follow, but within the restrictions imposed by the CAS.
– When is the meeting with World Athletics scheduled?
– We are coordinating this file, by the end of March this communication will certainly take place, we expect that consultations on the issue of the restoration of the ARAF will be held in person.
