Russian volleyball player Moroz suspended for 15 months for doping

Russian volleyball player Pavel Moroz suspended 15 months for violation of anti-doping rules, according to the website of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

In September, it became known that former volleyball players of Lokomotiv Novosibirsk and the Russian national team Moroz and Alexander Butko passed positive doping tests during the Final Six of the Russian Championship in 2014. Since April 2022, they have been suspended matches and training.

– Volleyball player Pavel Moroz has been sanctioned by the FIVB for violating anti-doping rules. The banned substance trimetazidine was found during its pre-competitive analysis during the Russian Volleyball Championship on April 29, 2014, in violation of Article 2.2 of the anti-doping rules in effect at the time, according to the statement.

Frost’s suspension is counted from January 1, 2022 and will end on March 31, 2023.

Earlier, reported that in 2014, Butko and Moroz took a drug similar to meldonium. This drug had no effect on the athletic qualities of the athlete and RUSADA was informed in due time that Butko and Moroz were taking it.

Butko has also already received a 15-month ban, which expires in April 2023. Moroz’s case was decided separately.
