Double Olympic medalist Kliment Kolesnikov swam 50 meters backstroke at the Vladimir Salnikov Cup with a better result than the winner of the world short course swimming championship, which is held without the participation of Russians.
Kolesnikov won at this distance with a score of 22.44 seconds. American Ryan Murphy won the 50m backstroke with a time of 22.64 at the 25m World Championships in Melbourne.
Kolesnikov at the Russian championship in November updated the world record for this distance – 22.11. The file is awaiting ratification. The International Swimming Federation (FINA) told that approval of the record will take place on a blanket basis.
