Four-time Olympic swimming champion Alexander Popov spoke about the possible admission of the Russian team to participate in the Paris Olympics under the national flag.
On Tuesday, an Olympic meeting was held in Moscow, during which the head of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), Stanislav Pozdnyakov, was re-elected for a new term.

In February, the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that international federations prevent Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions due to events in Ukraine. Many federations have followed these recommendations.
On December 9, most participants at the Olympic summit agreed on the need to keep sanctions against Russian and Belarusian sports in place. Acting President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Randhir Singh, has offered to facilitate the participation of Russian athletes in competitions under the auspices of the organization, but subject to sanctions.
The Paris Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
