President of the Russian Synchronized Swimming Federation Olga Brusnikina commented on the possibility of participation of male synchronized swimmers in the Olympic Games in group exercises.
Previously, the IOC had approved the possibility of the participation of male synchronized swimmers at the Olympic Games in group exercises after the adoption of this rule by the Technical Committee of the International Swimming Federation. Under the new rules, it will be allowed to include two men in a team of eight athletes.
– We suspected that these rules could be adopted regarding the Games in Paris, since, according to them, such an opportunity to include men in group competitions appears from 2023. Before these Olympics, there will be an opportunity to try out the new rules at two world championships, Brusnikina told .
