“When an athlete comes to a rally, he mixes sport with politics. If the conditional Nikita Katsalapov or another athlete comes to the rally, he gets into this politics up to his ears and therefore bears more of the burden of the consequences. If you’re an athlete, mind your own business. You skater – skate, athlete – run, jump. Go out publicly to defend someone’s rights – then you have to leave the sport and defend,” Stavisky said.
