“From the darkness itself, a trembling flower will suddenly fall into my hand of happiness.” Figure skater Gumennik’s mother remembered verse written to her after Peter failed at JWCH

Elena Gumennik, mother of the figure skater Pierre Gumennik in an interview with a correspondent, she quoted her own poem and also thanked the coaches working with her son.

Gumennik took second place at the Russian Championship in Krasnoyarsk. The first was Yevgeny Semenenko (295.07). Gumennik scored a similar number of points (295.07), but took second place, as he scored lower for the free program: 190.60 points compared to 195.92 points for Evgeny. Bronze went to Alexander Samarin (282.40).

– I remembered my poem, which I wrote after a big failure [Петра] at the Junior World Championships:

I wonder how to get out of the dark

curled around the planet,

The flowers fall in silence

Such a soft and simple color.

Like a fabulous white flower

Darkness blooms inside the bud.

The snowflake detaches from the breast

And, melting, goes home.

Above the abyss God created darkness for light,

It is potential, hope, mystery.

From darkness itself suddenly falls by accident

A quivering flower in my hand of happiness.

Today, this quivering, vulnerable, tender and ephemeral flower of happiness is in the hands of our family. Therefore, I want to thank Petya, Veronika Daineko, our coaching staff, Tamara Moskvina’s club with all employees, our relatives, the best loyal fans, and be a little happy, ”Elena Gumennik told .

At the 2020 World Junior Championships, Goomennik made a triple Axel landing error in the short program and finished ninth. According to the results of two programs, Peter scored 231.12 points and won a bronze medal.
