Former figure skater and choreographer Betina Popova in an interview with Sport Day after Day summed up the performances of the dancing couples at the Russian Championship in Krasnoyarsk.
The new champions of Russia are Elizaveta Khudaiberdieva and Egor Bazin (203.46 points). The couple fell during both rentals. The silver medalists were Elizaveta Shanaeva and Pavel Drozd , they scored 197.59 points. Completed the first three Elisabeth Pasechnik and Maxim Nekrasov – 195.52.
– Some pairs did well in the free program – silver and bronze medalists. The guys handed out shiny skates. Of course they deserve these medals, they have shown good results for couples who have just started competing. They did a great job during the season.
What happened to the leaders?
– Khudaiberdiyeva and Bazin have a systemic problem of crashes and serious breakdowns from start to finish. The guys haven’t had a single start this season as they skated flawlessly. Here the question is in the perception of departures. The first couple should probably be able to handle the pressure.
The guys have to do a great job of learning to perform again. Today the skate was a bit constrained, the guys were cautious, it affected the speed and range of motion.
It is a pity that in this fight there were no young couples Koganovskaya / Angelopol and Khavronina / Chirizano. They too could impose a fight for the pedestal.
