Olympic champion Yevgeny Sharonov has been elected president of the Russian Water Polo Federation, the organization’s press service told .
The FVPR conference, at which the president of the organization was elected, was held on Saturday.
Four candidates applied for the position: Yevgeny Sharonov, Sergei Naumov, Sergei Garbuzov and Sophia Konukh.
During the conference, Naumov withdrew from the elections in favor of Konukh.
Sharonov previously served as executive director and first vice-president of the federation.
Alexey Vlasenko was the president of the federation. In mid-March 2021, the Basmanny court sent Vlasenko to a remand center for large-scale fraud.
