Ten Hag: Ronaldo didn’t want to be part of the new Manchester United

The Portuguese and the club parted ways by mutual agreement

Manchester United manager Eric ten Hag spoke about the departure of the Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Ronaldo? It’s already in the past. I want to go further. We want to build a new future for Manchester United and Cristiano didn’t want to be part of it.”

Manchester United at the end of November announced the termination of cooperation with Ronaldo. The main reason for the departure of the Portuguese was a scandalous interview with the famous British journalist Piers Morgan.

During the conversation, Cristiano commented on the situation at Manchester United and talked about his relationship with the team’s head coach Erik ten Hag. Ronaldo said he “does not respect ten Hag” and “Man Utd betrayed him.”

In the summer of 2021, Ronaldo returned to Manchester United on a two-year deal. He previously played for the Red Devils from 2003-2009.

In total, Cristiano played 346 matches for Manchester United and scored 145 goals. Together with the English club, the Portuguese became the champion of England three times, and also won the Champions League in the 2007/08 season.

Ronaldo decided to continue his career in the Al-Nasr club from Saudi Arabia. Previously, the Portuguese will sign a seven-year contract with a salary of about 200 million euros per year.
