Athletistic/ Figure Skating. Russian figure skater Elizaveta Nugumanova spoke about the benefits of raising the age limit in figure skating.
“I want to stretch figure skating longer, because the girls finish early. If they increase the qualification, the girls will have motivation. Competitiveness will become about the same for everyone. It seems to me that with the limit age, careers will be longer,” Nugumanova said.
The figure skater added that perhaps the only example of women’s skating with older, more mature programs is 25-year-old Elizaveta Tuktamysheva, who, unlike many of her younger colleagues, will not yet end her sports career.
The International Skating Union (ISU) has voted to gradually raise the age limit in figure skating from 15 to 17.
