Robert Garcia: Joshua didn’t say he wasn’t working with me anymore. We had good chances against Usyk

Anthony may change coach

Trainer Robert Garcia said that the former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua may soon change mentor.

“A couple of weeks ago, AJ called me and said he was coming to the United States to meet with other coaches to see how he was in training with them. But he never said to me: “I don’t work with you anymore”, he never told me: “I don’t like your style.”

“I don’t know why, but he has a management team, and they decided so. I respect him, but most of all I respect the fact that he called me in advance and said that he would be in the USA visiting other coaches.

“We had a good plan and we had good chances against Usyk. We didn’t win, but we have to remember that we fought probably the best fighter in the world. Usyk is a great fighter. It was a test for me to have my first fight with Anthony against a fighter like Usyk. We did our best, we had a good moment in the fight, but we couldn’t win it.”

Earlier, Roy Jones said that he could become Joshua’s coach and said that Anthony lost in a rematch with WBA / WBO / IBF / IBO heavyweight champion Alexander Usyk due to a misunderstanding with his trainer Robert Garcia.

Joshua wants to enter the ring in his next fight with Dillian Whyte. Anthony is also planning a fight with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, who said he was ready to fight Joshua for free.
