The National Federation is outraged by this decision, and has sent a protest to the International Association.

Russians and Belarusians can participate in Thai boxing competitions. This decision was made by the International Federation of Muay Thai Associations (IFMA).

Such a strange decision cannot remain without a reaction from the Ukrainian federation for this sport. Domestic officials expressed their protest against the decision. In addition, in an official letter from the IFMA, the Ukrainians announced that they will boycott all competitions in which athletes from the aggressor countries will perform.

“At a time when the whole civilized world is trying to stop Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, the IFMA has decided for 2023 to allow Muay Thai athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in the competitions it organizes – in the status of neutrals that athlete without a flag.and an anthem.

This caused a wave of justified anger and rage in the Ukrainian Muay Thai family and in other countries that support us.

We are very disappointed with the decision of the IFMA and have decided to withdraw from participating in all sporting events held by the IFMA, as well as the World Games – until the Russian and Belarusian Muay Thai Federations are removed from participating in the competitions in any capacity.

Ukrainian athletes do not want and will not only shake hands, but also step into the ring with an athlete whose country is killing his Ukrainian family,” the letter said.
