The Russian Synchronized Swimming Federation had already been informed about the disqualification of synchronized swimmer Maria Nemchinova, the athlete ended her career, Federation President Olga Brusnikina told .
The International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) has suspended Nemchinova until May 2024 for an anti-doping rule violation.
“Nemchinova has already retired, the story of her disqualification is old, we are aware of this decision and we published the corresponding official message quite a long time ago,” Brusnikina told .
Nemchinova, 24, was a member of the Russian national team at the 2014 World Junior Championships in Finland and 2016 in Russia, winning two gold medals and a silver. At the 2015 European Games in Baku, the athlete as part of the Russian team won in group exercises and in combination.
