Winner of the Russian Open Water Swimming Championship Vasily Boykov told he had not breached any anti-doping rules, but saw no point in challenging his disqualification.
The International Swimming Federation (World Aquatics) suspended Boikov for two years for an anti-doping rule violation in 2012.
– I don’t see the point of challenging this disqualification – it’s a lot of money, constant trips to court. I did not use prohibited substances, I did not break any anti-doping rules.
The sample that was taken from me at the Russian championship is from 2012. Ten years have passed, I haven’t competed for eight years and I’ve retired from professional sport,” the 32-year-old Boikov said.
The swimmer’s period of suspension will expire in June 2023.
