Figure skater Vladimir Morozov stated that he, together with his partner Evgenia Tarasova supported Kamil Valiev during the Beijing Olympics.
Valieva at the 2022 Games as part of the Russian team won gold in the team competition. Before the personal tournament, it became known that the illegal drug trimetazidine was discovered during the figure skater’s doping test. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) cleared Valieva to participate in individual competitions, where she finished fourth.
– We worried about Camila, supported as best we could. But our start was on the last two days of the Olympics, in any case we had to keep our focus until the end, and we tried to abstain from the situation a bit, Morozov told Komsomolskaya Pravda.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) previously asked CAS to ban Valieva for four years.
