“Averbukh is adept at hard skating, and Zhulin uses other tricks” – Enbert

Olympic silver medalist in figure skating Alexandre Enbert declared that the choreographer and director Ilya Averbukh focuses on the complexity of the programs, and the honored coach of Russia Alexander Zhulin uses other methods.

– Ilya is adept at dramatic and complex skating. He tries to extract from us the maximum complexity here and now – all that we are capable of.

And Alexander is a follower of programs that are lighter and closer to perception. Together with Igor Orshulyak, he uses other techniques to convey his thoughts and prefers faster skating – he tries to make it more dynamic.

So there is a huge difference between them,” Enbert told Gazeta.ru.

Titled figure skaters, including Olympic champions Anna Shcherbakova and Alina Zagitova, compete in Averbukh’s ice shows.

Under Zhulin’s leadership, Tatyana Navka and Roman Kostomarov won gold at the 2006 Olympics, Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov at the 2022 Games.
