Olympic high jump champion Eric Kinard suspended for six months

American track and field athlete Eric Kinard suspended for six months for an anti-doping rule violation, according to the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) website.

As reported, USADA launched an investigation and discovered that on January 14, 2022, the athlete posted a photo on social media, which shows how he receives an intravenous infusion of the drug. Kinard, 31, was found to have received more than 100ml of saline over a 12 hour period without a Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE).

As a special method, intravenous infusions or injections of more than 100ml over a 12-hour period are prohibited at all times, except for those legally administered during hospital treatment, surgical procedures or clinical diagnostic studies.

Kinard’s suspension period is counted from May 20, he accepted the sentence.

Kinard won silver in the high jump at the London Olympics, but due to the disqualification of Russian Ivan Ukhov, he was recognized as an Olympic champion. The athlete from the United States also has two bronze medals at the World Indoor Championships.
