The leader of the Kazan “Zenith” and the Russian national volleyball team, Olympic champion Maxim Mikhailov admitted he was calm about the possible non-admission of the national team to the 2024 Olympics.
– I am completely calm about whether we will play in the 2024 Olympics. It is not our business to waste our nerves on useless experiments. As fate decides, so be it. Our job is to train, to prepare for the chance that presents itself. If he does, then you need to be prepared. It’s not like, “Oh, I thought they wouldn’t let us in, so I decided not to prepare.” Worrying that you don’t need to practice we won’t go anyway is wrong. It is important to do the maximum for yourself, and the situation will tell you about it, – Mikhailov told the “Championship”.
On February 28, the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that international federations prevent Russians and Belarusians from participating in competitions due to events in Ukraine.
Many federations have followed these recommendations. On December 9, the majority of participants at the Olympic summit agreed on the need to keep the sanctions against Russian and Belarusian sports in place.
The Paris Summer Olympics will take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
