Privalova doesn’t think Litvinov’s doping statement will affect ARAF restoration process at World Athletics

First Vice-President of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA) Irina Privalova doubts that the words of the bronze medalist of the 2014 European Championships in the hammer throw Sergei Litvinov on doping may affect the possible restoration of Russia in the World Athletics Association (World Athletics).

Previously, Litvinov wrote on social networks that during the preparation for the 2012 Olympics (from the end of April to the end of May 2012), he took turinabol and oxandrolone.

“I don’t think it will have an effect. We are talking about the events of 2012, so he did not say anything new. We already have a new federation, new people and new relationships. Now, if he said that yesterday his arms were twisted here and forced to drink pills, then there would be a different conversation. We now have a good recovery workflow with World Athletics, and we, as they say in sports, are already at the finish line, quotes RT Privalova.

With ARAF deprived of World Athletics membership since 2015 due to a large-scale doping scandal, a task force was established to restore the status of the organization. In November 2022, World Athletics chief Sebastian Coe said the organization’s task force recommends restoring ARAF status in March 2023.

Litvinov has represented teams from Belarus, Germany and Russia on the international stage.
