Silver medalist of the Russian Championship in men’s singles Pierre Gumennik admitted to Sport24 that he supports the national team France during the 2022 FIFA World Cup final in Qatar.
In the title game, Didier Deschamps’ team lost to Argentina on penalties (3:3, 2:4).
What do you think of football in general?
– The World Cup occasionally peeked. But mostly, I watched game reviews.
Did you support Argentina in the final?
— No, rather for France. I have a French friend. Once, I decided to study French and he helps me. He is also a postgraduate student at ITMO. Supported him after his team lost.
– But French, as I understand it, is not your first foreign language?
– I speak English at level B2 (above average, – approx.). In college, we have couples on it twice a week.
– B2 is a good level. You can grant interviews to foreign journalists.
– Yes you can. If they started asking me questions in English, I would try to answer them.
