Vaitsekhovskaya thinks Gorshkov and Kogan should boldly take on the craziest projects

RT correspondent Elena Vaitsekhovskaya believes that Alexander Gorshkov and Alexander Kogan, re-elected as President and General Director of the Russian Figure Skating Federation respectively, should not be afraid to take on the craziest projects in Difficult conditions.

– In fact, all leaders of Russian sport, without exception, now have to exist and prove their worth in very difficult conditions. In part, Gorshkov himself said the same thing during the elections, emphasizing that the main topic now is the situation in which Russian sports find themselves, and he sees his main task in maintaining the level of Russian figure skating at the height at which it is.

But there is an interesting point. These steps to create new competitions and, in a way, alternatives with good prize money, in order to warm up the motivation of athletes and coaches as much as possible, do not yet seem to be at all the merit of sports federations. Rather, it is time to talk about a certain general scheme that should be adopted for execution.

Of course, the FFKKR can be credited with the intention to organize in the country a certain analog of the world series of Grands Prix – a series of starts which will take place in several stages in different cities and, as noted by Kogan , not only the strongest skaters in our country, but maybe skaters from other countries, if they wish. But in the same way, it can be noted that the scheme is not new, and even less revolutionary: that in figure skating it is urgently necessary to be intrigued by the creation of a series of internal and very powerful tournaments at all respects, it has been said. two years ago, when the world was covered by a pandemic. And it’s a pity, in fact, that the idea was not implemented even then.

The peculiarity of Russian figure skating is that this sport is much more autonomous than most others.

There is an unprecedented level of results, popularity, interest in television, but even that is not the main thing. When the country has so many absolutely outstanding athletes and coaches, you can afford to aim for the wildest projects, – Vaitsekhovskaya quotes TR .

The International Skating Union (ISU) on March 1 suspended Russian athletes from participating in competitions under the auspices of the organization due to the situation in Ukraine.
