“We did not plagiarize Trusov” – coach Gorbacheva about the short program on the music of Cruella

Sofia Fedchenko, coach of the Russian figure skater Alina Gorbacheva told how the image of Cruella was created for the athlete, and urged not to compare this program with the performance of the Olympic medalist of the same name in 2022 Alexandra Trousova .

Gorbachev studied with Fedchenko at the Triumph Figure Skating Academy. The 15-year-old figure skater became the bronze medalist at the Russian Grand Prix stage in Perm this season.

– This season, Gorbacheva skates a short program on the music of the film “Cruella”. Wasn’t it scary to take that job after Trusova’s Olympic production?

— I didn’t think it would cause so much noise and discussion in the media. We took on a completely different topic. Alina is more Estella than Cruella. We wanted to show the character change. When we set up the program, we planned to skate as a junior, we did not meet Trusova during competitions. A lot of people say we wanted to promote ourselves on that, but we didn’t draw any parallels.

When the film was released, Alina said that she liked the image and wanted to cast a stylish and bold girl. We were looking for a lot of music, and finally we settled on Cruella. That season we didn’t change the court, but left the old one under Lara Fabian. And then Trusova goes out with Cruella…

– Aren’t you upset?

– Different competitions, she has her own choreographer, we have ours. The fans find commonalities in the programs, I didn’t bother like that. Nikita Mikhailov, who ran the program, never steals ideas. We did not plagiarize Trusov.

– What difference do you see between Sasha’s and Alina’s programs?

– Trusova’s program is initially more daring. She skated a free program with a lot of quads, it’s originally a different program. And Alina skates a court, she has the opportunity to show a change of mood. Slowly show Estella, then turn into Cruella on the track, Fedchenko told .
