Coach Gorbacheva told what quadruple jumps the masters of figure skating

Sofia Fedchenko, coach of the Russian figure skater Alina Gorbacheva told “” he was jumping into the athlete’s arsenal and explained why he no longer uses a fishing rod in training.

The 15-year-old studies with Fedchenko at the Triumph Figure Skating Academy. Gorbacheva became this season’s bronze medalist at the Russian Grand Prix in Perm. Last season, she won two victories at the stages of the Russian Cup in the contest of candidates for mastery of sports.

– At competitions, we only saw the quadruple salchow performed by Alina. What other jumps are in his arsenal?

– His Salchow is quite stable. We learn the sheepskin coat, we fight with trixel. Alina understands that without him now nowhere. But the jump is difficult. Everything else is at the stage of leadership exercises. By the end of the season we will definitely try Lutz,” the coach told .

– Did you teach the quadruple salchow with Alina? Wasn’t it scary to race a student in a quad?

– Only I was always engaged in jumping work with her. Why should I be afraid?

– The first student’s first quad is an exciting time.

“Sometimes it’s worse to do it the second time. The first time you don’t understand what it will be like, and the second time you already know. I had no fear.

– How long have you fought with the quad?

– We started learning the quadruple when Alina was 12, everything went pretty quickly, there were good attempts. And then Alina began a period of difficult growth, three fractures, we did not touch the quads.

After junior skates last season, we started learning it again, and Alina jumped the first quadruple at the Russian Cup stage in Kazan. In the second half of the season, Alina declared that she was ready to perform the quad in the program, and she did it in the Russian Cup final on the first try.

At the end of last season, Alina broke her leg, we recovered all summer and only started jumping with the left foot in September.

– If only you work on jumps with Alina, don’t you use a fishing rod to study quads?

– When she was easier, then I could hold her on the bait. And now I can hold her if she asks. We have canes at the academy, but it’s easier for Alina to jump on her own.
