“Clearly there was nothing to look forward to” – Novitsky ISU decision not to hold Grand Prix in Russia

Russian figure skater Sergei Novitsky acting in pale with Yana Khokhlova noted that he was not surprised by the decision of the International Skating Union (ISU) not to organize Grand Prix stops in Russia in the 2023/24 season.

On Wednesday, it became known that the International Skating Union (ISU) board of directors had not allowed Russia to host the Grand Prix of figure skating in the 2023/24 season.

– We are all adults and we understand very well: there were no preconditions to alleviate the sanctions against our athletes, including figure skaters. In the context of everything that is going on, it was foolish to expect Russia to also host the Grand Prix stage and then send us back to international competitions. In my opinion, it is quite obvious that there was nothing to hope for. At the same time, we have always managed the organization of the biggest tournaments well. Yes, we have great athletes. Of course, world sport has lost from their absence. But now no one cares, – quotes Novitsky RT.
