Olympic ice dance champion Natalya Bestemyanova has expressed her hope that Russian figure skaters will be allowed to compete in international tournaments next season.
In March 2022, the ISU banned Russian and Belarusian speed skaters, short track skaters and figure skaters from competing under the auspices of the organization due to the situation in Ukraine. In June, the ISU congress extended the suspension of Russians and Belarusians.
– I still hope that next season our skaters, even with certain restrictions, will be allowed to start internationally. There is enough time left in front of him. It is difficult for me to answer the question of what position the ISU will take in the future, but I really hope for the best. Moreover, the view of the federation may also change over time,” RT Bestemyanova quotes.
