Australian cyclist Jay Hindley of the Bora-Hansgrohe team won the Giro d’Italia for the first time in his career.
The athlete took the lead in the general classification at the end of the Saturday stage, Sunday he maintained the advantage after the 17.4 km sprint stage with a separate start. Ecuadorian Richard Caparas finished second overall and Mikel Landa third.
As for the final stage 21 itself, it was won by Italian Matteo Sobrero of BikeExchange-Jayco with a time of 22 minutes 24 seconds.
In 2020 Hindley finished the Giro in second place.
