Honored Coach of the USSR Tatiana Tarasova said she was on good terms with her first pair skating partner, Alexander Tikhomirov.
Tikhomirov died Thursday at the age of 77. Tikhomirov was Tarasova’s first partner, with whom he won a silver medal at the USSR Junior Championships in pair skating in 1963.
– We skated with Sasha from 15 to 17 years old. We won competitions, there were second places, there were first places. I grew up a lot, we became equals and I had to change partners. We were always on good terms when we saw each other, even though we rarely saw each other. We were the same age, he was a handsome young man. He was a good man, condolences to his family,” Tarasova told RBC Sport.
