World Athletics Association (World Athletics) President Sebastian Coe has said he could nominate a candidate for the post of head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
“Certainly, I don’t rule it out. But anyone taking on this role in 2025 needs to ask some important questions. Is the world of sport truly aware of the challenge it faces – its relevance, its relevance, its ability to navigate the most complex political landscape while remaining true to its moral compass? — quotes the words of the Coe Times.
Olympic fencing champion Thomas Bach in 2013, he was elected IOC President for an eight-year term. In March 2021, the German official, who turned 69 in December, was re-elected as head of the IOC for four years.
Coe, 66, has been in charge of World Athletics (formerly the IAAF) since 2015. The Briton is a double Olympic champion in the 1,500 meters, European champion, double Games silver medalist in the 800 meters.
