Coach Larionov: “I think the transfer of the Russian Grand Prix final to St. Petersburg will be justified”

Coach Yuri Larionov which develops figure skating in Tatarstan, in an interview with a correspondent, said that the decision to move the Russian Grand Prix final from Sochi to St. Petersburg was due to better living conditions in the capital of North.

On Sunday, Russian national team head coach Elena Chaikovskaya confirmed to that the Russian Grand Prix final has been moved from Sochi to Saint Petersburg. Competitions for adults will take place from March 3 to 5, for juniors from March 1 to 3.

– I think the Russian Grand Prix Final was moved to St. Petersburg for reasons of comfort, living conditions and status. However, it is accepted that the big competitions take place in the big cities with a certain background. Moscow, Petersburg, Sochi Olympics…

On the other hand, they held the Russian championship in Krasnoyarsk and no one complained, athletes and journalists from all over the country flew to the distant cold country!

In Kazan, the Grand Prix stage was enchanting in autumn, and locals went to the ice rink with pleasure, cheering on their favorite stars. Little skaters were also happy – in an interview I told you about the meeting of my students with Kamila Valieva. Such events always motivate children.

But since the FFKKR made such a decision, there are good reasons. They always carefully study the conditions, the size of the city that will be able to host the tournament. Something did not work on another application, but in St. Petersburg everything worked. Certainly living conditions. I believe that the transfer of the final to St. Petersburg will be justified, Larionov told .
