“Interest in figure skating is much higher in the northern capital” – coach Volkov on the transfer of the Grand Prix final from Sochi to St. Petersburg

Coach Alexander Volkov, in an interview with a correspondent, expressed his belief that the Russian Grand Prix final will gather a large number of spectators in St. Petersburg.

On Sunday, Russian national team head coach Elena Chaikovskaya confirmed to that the Russian Grand Prix final has been moved from Sochi to Saint Petersburg. Competitions for adults will take place from March 3 to 5, for juniors from March 1 to 3.

– It’s definitely for the best! A large number of collections come from St. Petersburg, and it is there that the tournament will gather a large number of spectators. Moreover, interest in figure skating is, in principle, much higher in the northern capital, Volkov told .

Alexander Volkov is one of the first coaches of Alexandra Trusova. His other famous students are Stanislav Konstantinova and Ekaterina Ryabova, who played for Azerbaijan. For several years, Volkov and his wife Martin Dazhine led a group at the Evgeni Plushenko Academy, and in the spring of 2021 they opened their own school. Now the coach has a large international team: several senior students play for different countries at once.
