Always watched men’s skating. It is very interesting to watch complex programs!
At the age of 13, I qualified for the Junior Grand Prix Final. There, one day, immediately after our training, there was a training for adult men. Naturally, Nathan Chen and Yuzuru Hanyu were there. I convinced the girls to stay and watch them practice. It was incredibly cool, an unforgettable experience! A lot of quadruple jumps!
With Hanyu, we jumped the parallel quadruple toe loop at Skate Canada. I just approached him and offered to jump together – he immediately understood everything and immediately agreed. Yuzuru is very fond of figure skating, he is a real fan of his profession. During these competitions, I couldn’t see Hanyu’s performance, but I saw his act during the demonstrations. Usually skaters simplify the content. But not Yuzuru Hanyu! And so he went out onto the ice, got into the initial position, the music started playing and … as soon as he turned his head, all the stands of the Ice Palace erupted in applause and screams! I saw him after the number and it seemed to me that he was more tired than at the start of the tournament. He left himself alone on the ice. People feel it. For this, he is loved and admired. Legend.
At the World Championships in Stockholm, I learned about the men’s training program, chose who I wanted to watch and went in my spare time. I usually like to watch singles training very much, but this time I have already noted some points by myself that can help me to do so many quads. At these Worlds, the women performed in front of the men, so the next day I went to see the men’s free routine. Of course, Nathan Chen impressed with five quads. I managed to do five quads in training, but unfortunately not in competition.
To be honest, I’ve always supported Nathan and looked up to him. And he often said something about me in interviews. I even asked him for advice on how to jump five quads in competition. He suggested.
During the protests in Stockholm, I asked our figure skating federation to let me go to a rehearsal, where Chen was. And she invited him to jump a parallel quadruple lutz. He accepted.
I am very happy that Nathan won the Olympics. I congratulated him with great pleasure, it was a delight!
The next day, after the free program, we had demo performances. The groups were – separately women and separately men. I approached the organizers and asked them to let me coach the male group. Alas, I was not allowed. I was upset and just went to watch, sat to the side. Everyone greeted me and called me on the ice.
Also, after the free program at the Olympics, they showed me a recorded video before the rental. There Nathan says I am his friend and he will only support me. I was delighted! And during the demonstrations, he congratulated me on the performance of five quadruple jumps in the program at the start the most important for any athlete.
When it comes to men’s skating, I have always supported all Russians!
At the Commanding Officer Olympics, she worried about Mark, as she imagined what responsibility he had. In my opinion, the greatest among all the participants: he couldn’t be wrong at all. I’m glad he made it. In the personal tournament, I supported all the guys! I think now men’s figure skating is on the rise. Many guys insert 3-4 quads into the program, this competition only becomes more spectacular and interesting.
It was always more interesting for me to watch the men’s individual skating. Lots of complex elements, adrenaline, tension throughout the program. And there is always a plot: who will face the emotions, endure physically and reach the end. It fascinated me and still fascinates me!
However, recently I was sick and worried about a single athlete in figure skating. I want him to always succeed. For me, he is the best!
