In the short program of the European Championships in Espoo (Finland), Grassl showed the eighth result.

— During these competitions, I felt a lot of pressure and I was very nervous. In training I was fine, but during the performance I was too tense. I hope to come back and fight in the free skate as always. I felt very good there (in training in Moscow), my motivation returned.

I felt a lot of pressure because of the negative comments I received after my trip to Moscow. A lot of people are (opposed) against me and my decision,” the International Skating Union (ISU) press service quoted the Italian as saying.

The figure skaters will present their free program at the European Championships on Friday 27 January.

The 20-year-old Italian skater is a European Championship silver medalist (2022), winner of the British Grand Prix (2022), bronze medalist of the Italian Grand Prix (2021).
