President of the Russian Cycling Federation Vyacheslav Ekimov told he was awaiting concrete decisions on admission to international starts, since Olympic selection in certain types of cycling is already underway.
On Wednesday, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said it would consider admitting neutral Russian and Belarusian athletes who do not actively support the NWO to world starts. Previously, in most sports, against the background of the situation in Ukraine, Russians were deprived of the opportunity to participate in international tournaments.
– The IOC has shown us its vision of the situation regarding the admission of athletes, now we have to wait for the comments and decisions of the international federation. Of course, we would like specific solutions, and we are concerned about the history of (Olympic) selection, which is already underway in some types of cycling, – Yekimov told .
The 2024 Summer Olympics will take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
