“Light at the end of the tunnel” – Druzhinin on the OCA’s proposal to offer Russians and Belarusians the opportunity to participate in the Asian Games

The President of the Russian Diving Federation, Stanislav Druzhinin, told that he positively perceives the proposal of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) to offer Russians the opportunity to participate in the Asian Games.

The OCA has previously offered to give athletes from Russia and Belarus the opportunity to compete in Asia, including the Asian Games.

– I take it as a kind of light at the end of the tunnel, for us it is definitely a good guideline for the preparation. Yesterday, after the statement, the IOC said we needed details – and here they are. Moreover, it is a good opportunity to compete with our Chinese rivals,” Druzhinin told .

On Wednesday, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said it would consider allowing athletes from Russia and Belarus who do not actively support the IOC to participate in international competitions in a neutral status. In most sports, Russians are deprived of the opportunity to participate in international tournaments.

The Asian Games will take place from September 23 to October 8 in Hangzhou (China).
