RPC President Rozhkov: “We are preparing for the Paralympic Games. We hope that our athletes and Belarusians will still be allowed”

President of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) Pavel Rozhkov told that Russian athletes continue to prepare for the 2024 Games in Paris, and also discussed the appeal against the decision of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to suspend the RPC’s membership of the IPC.

In November, at a general assembly meeting, the IPC announced the abolition of the RPC due to non-compliance with obligations as a member of an international organization. In late 2022, Rozhkov told that the RCC filed an appeal against this decision with the IPC Arbitration Tribunal.

– We are waiting for good news, we continue to prepare for the Paralympic Games. We hope that our foreign colleagues will always make the right decision and that our athletes and Belarusians will be allowed to participate in the Games.

At the end of last year, the General Assembly of the International Paralympic Committee took place, which, unfortunately, took place with many violations. No actual fact has been presented that the RPC violated the current statute of the IPC. Therefore, before the New Year, we submitted documents to the IPC Appeal Tribunal. The documents have been adopted, the secretariat is now working.

The Appeals Tribunal will meet in April-May. Also, we asked him to suspend the decision to prevent our athletes from participating in the international qualifying competitions so that the guys can now go through the qualifying tournaments.
