Former South Korean figure skater Lee Kyu-hyun has been sentenced to four years in prison for attempting to rape an underage student, Yonhap news agency reported.
A branch of the Uijeongbu District Court found Li, 42, guilty of assaulting and attempting to rape a girl and illegally filming the crime early last year. The victim was then 18 years old. The court also banned him from childcare for 10 years and ordered him to take a 50-hour course in a child abuse prevention program.
Lee Kyu-hyun is an eight-time South Korean singles champion. He represented the country at the 1998 and 2002 Olympics and participated in several world championships. Lee Kyu-hyun is the younger brother of five-time world speed skating champion Lee Kyu-hyuk.
