Tsitsipas beat Khachanov to reach final at Australian Open for the first time

This is the Greek’s second Grand Slam final.

Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas became the first Australian Open 2023 finalist.

In the semifinals, the third seed beat Karen Khachanov in four sets in 3 hours and 25 minutes. Having won in the first two games, Tsitsipas lost in the third set, giving up two key serves in a tie-break. In the fourth set, the Greek led 3-0 and confidently held the lead.

Tsitsipas played in the semi-finals of the Grand Slam tournament for the fifth time and advanced to the final for the second time. In 2021, he managed to do it at Roland Garros. In Melbourne, Tsitsipas held the fourth semi-final and for the first time managed to go further.

24-year-old Stefanos became the youngest participant in the final since 2011, when Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray met in the decisive match.
