The main start in the spring is the European Indoor Championships in Istanbul
Ukrainian athlete Yaroslav Maguchy commented first starts of the season and shared her future plans.
“It was exciting in Lviv because it was the first start of the season. It was no less exciting in Cottbus because it was the first start of the international season. Even such competitions, along with pole vaults, are long, but interesting. I hope the audience enjoyed watching it as well. In principle, I liked that I took everything on the first try. Therefore, we will try even higher at the next competitions.”
“I wanted to take 2.02 meters, but it didn’t work out a bit. The third attempt was very close. But next time I’ll definitely jump. I feel that I am in shape and ready to jump higher, over 2 meters. We will do our best to keep it above 2.02 meters this season.”
“Then I can say for sure that I have starts in Norway on February 2, and then in France. Then I don’t know for sure, but the main start is the European Indoor Championships in March in Istanbul.”
“I am no longer in Germany, we have changed the location, now I am in Belgium. Sponsors have rented a house here and will be here for the winter season. The village of Goizden-Zolder is an hour from Brussels. There is an arena nearby, there is a track and everything you need to jump. After each start, I will return here to Belgium.”
Recall that Maguchikh became the winner of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Bronze tournament in Cottbus, Germany, jumping 1.98 m on the first attempt.
Previously, Maguchikh won the Aleksey Demjanjuk Memorial, taking the bar at a height of 2.00 m. This is the best result of the 2023 season in the world.
