“Most likely, Petya has the flu” – Gumennik’s mother spoke about the skater’s condition

The mother of Russian figure skating championship silver medalist Peter Gumennik said the athlete probably had the flu.

Earlier, 20-year-old Gumennik told that he pulled out of the competition due to high temperature.

– Yesterday Petya skated very well, everything went well – he performed a free program with four quads neatly. And this morning the temperature is below 39. Most likely, the flu. We are very upset, Petya wanted to participate in the championship, Elena Gumennik told correspondent.

The Saint Petersburg championship, which Gumennik was supposed to play in, will be held from January 28 to 29.
