Three more Ukrainian athletes lost in their fights for the “bronze”
Ukrainian judoka Elizabeth Litvinenko won a silver medal in the series tournament Grand Slam in Portuguese Almada.
During the tournament, the Ukrainian won three of her fights ahead of schedule, and the quarterfinal confrontation lasted 12 minutes and ended with the removal of her opponent. In the final of the weight category up to 78 kilograms, Elizabeth lost to Patricia Sampaio from Portugal.
For 18-year-old Litvinenko, silver was her debut at the adult level. Earlier, the Ukrainian won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Tashkent.
Litvinenko’s medal was the only one for Ukraine at the competition. Three judokas – Gevorg Manukyan (up to 81 kg), Natalia Chistyakova (up to 70 kg) and Anton Savitsky (up to 100 kg) lost in the fights for bronze. Two more Ukrainians took seventh place in their categories.
Recall that the Ukrainian national team arrived at the competition in Portugal without its leader Daria Beloded. Then part of the team will go to Paris for the Grand Slam tournament in early February.
