- Vasiliev: “We have to boycott the Olympics if we have to play without a flag or an anthem”
Earlier, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the possibility of Russian athletes participating in Paris 2024 under a neutral flag.
“Anyone who calls on us now to boycott the Olympics, whatever the reasoning, must be made clear that this type of move is a direct path to the isolation of all national sports for at least two Olympic cycles.
In other words, the flag, the anthem, our athletes will not be in most competitive international competitions for eight years. This is exactly what our adversaries are striving for with all their might.
At the same time, history does not know of a case when a boycott would have a positive effect on the development of sport in a single country,” Pozdnyakov wrote on his Telegram channel.
