Former Netherlands defender Heitinga takes charge of Ajax

The agreement is valid until the end of the season.

New head coach ajax became John Heitinga. Johnny replaced Alfred Schroeder in his new position.

The 39-year-old, who previously worked in the youth team of Ajax, has signed a contract until the end of the current season. At the end of the season, the parties will discuss a possible extension of the agreement.

During his career, Heitinga played for Ajax, Atlético, Everton, Fulham and Hertha. He was regularly called up under the banner of the Netherlands national team, having spent 87 matches (7 goals). Participated in Euro 2004, World Cup 2006, Euro 2008, World Cup 2010 (finalist) and Euro 2012.

In the Eredivisie standings, the Amsterdam club is in fourth position. In February, Ajax will play in the 1/16 finals of the Europa League against Union Berlin.
