The International Olympic Committee commented on Thomas Bach’s invitation to Bakhmut.
The press service gave a clear answer, saying that the president of the organization will not visit Ukraine yet.
“The President of the IOC visited Ukraine in the summer of 2022 at the invitation of the NOC. During this visit, he met with athletes affected by the war, saw the destroyed sports infrastructure, and also met with President Zelensky for a big discussion.”

“After the visit, they also exchanged phone numbers. At the moment, there are no plans for a new visit to Ukraine,” the statement said.
It was previously reported that the IOC condemned Ukraine’s decision to boycott the Olympics if the Russians were admitted.
